In the future, this is the process you'll follow to license new versions of the software that require an activation key. If I go back to the SolarWinds Customer Portal, I can see that the available installation counter has incremented to reflect the license I just deactivated. To deactivate or park a license, I'll use the SolarWinds ® License Manager Utility.

This counter will update whenever I install on a new machine or deactivate a license so that I can move the install from one machine to another. Now that I've installed MRC and licensed it, I can see that one of my remaining installations has been used, and I now have two left. Now version 8 of MRC is licensed and ready to go.

DAMEWARE LICENSE MANAGER ACTIVATION KEY

I'll enter the activation key and hit “Next.” Then I'll enter my registration information to finish. Towards the end of the installation, you'll be prompted to enter license information, which is the screen you see here. I've already downloaded and installed version 8. I'll go ahead and copy the activation key so I can use it to activate the new version. It also provides me with the history of activations using this key, so I can see all of the machines on which the product has been activated. The Customer Portal will keep track of my installations so I know how many I have left. This key will persist in the portal so it can be reused for additional installations. I can download the new version from here, and I can also see my activation key, which is what I'll use to license the product once it's installed. The Portal shows me how many seats I've purchased and the number of installations I have available. I can see I have a license for NT Utilities and Mini Remote Control. Once logged in, click on the “ License Management” link to view all of your SolarWinds licenses. I've entered my SolarWinds ID and password. This is what you use to log in to the SolarWinds Customer Portal.

If you've purchased NT Utilities or Dameware through SolarWinds, then you should have an email that contains your SolarWinds ID. You will now find your license keys in the SolarWinds Customer Portal.
